Students honor St. Paul school's namesake, trailblazing Black artist Gordon Parks

St. Paul’s Gordon Parks High School on University Avenue is named after the trailblazing artist who attended Central High School and began his photography career in the city. But the school’s embrace of Parks’ legacy goes well beyond just its name.

St. Paul street lamps targeted by copper thieves Thieves have been stealing the copper wiring in street lamps to sell to metal scrap yards. The high price of copper has hit St. Paul double over the last couple of years, both with an increase in theft and an increase in the cost of repairs.
Woman charged with murder in death of newborn found in Mississippi River in 2003. Goodhue County authorities announced Monday they have filed second-degree murder charges against a woman they say is the mother of two newborn babies found dead in the Mississippi River in 1999 and 2003.
'Pretty crazy': St. Louis Park woman records bear in her front yard. There have been more than 30 bear spottings so far this year in Hennepin County, according to a map on the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources website.
Mexican border town sees an increase in sales of abortion drugs to women from the US. Since Texas passed a strict anti-abortion law in September, more and more women along the southern border have been going to unregulated pharmacies in Mexico to get abortion pills. Border health professionals fear the Mexican pharmacies have become a last resort for some women. Observers say it's a sign of what's to come if the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade.
A brutal sell-off on Wall Street continues as stocks sink for a 3rd day in a row. The declines come before the Labor Department is set to report consumer prices data for April, which are expected to show price gains slowing somewhat, but not enough to meaningfully bring down inflation from 40-year highs.
