Good evening, everyone, It is going to be interesting watching those countries which are slightly ahead of us on the pandemic journey over the next couple of weeks. Spain, Italy and even America look like they are starting to relax some of the restrictions which have been in place stopping people from coming into contact with those outside their immediate family home. From this week and next, they will be allowing children to return to school and small businesses to re-open. Let’s hope it doesn’t start off a second wave of infections, leading to more deaths in countries already reeling from the number of people who have died. It is becoming clearer that the only real way out of lockdown is going to be a proven vaccine...and it seemed like that might be up to a year away. So the news that scientists in Oxford are going to be starting clinical trials on humans today can only be good. Of course, even if it is a success, it will take time to get everyone vaccinated. But at least it gives us hope. Until next time, stay safe. Gillian Parkinson Editor |
