🇰🇿 Kazakhstan’s Central Bank Eyes National Crypto Reserve |
Kazakhstan is planning a state-run cryptocurrency reserve, per a report by Kazinform. The National Bank of Kazakhstan aims to fund the reserve using seized digital assets and state-linked mining operations. |
National Bank Chairman Timur Suleimenov acknowledged the risks of crypto but emphasized centralized oversight for effective risk management. A May 22 parliamentary response confirmed the bank’s intent, suggesting a subsidiary specializing in alternative investments could manage the reserve. |

Japanese firm Metaplanet purchased another 1,005 BTC for $108M, bringing its total holdings to 13,350 BTC worth $1.45B. |
The company’s YTD BTC yield is 349%. Its average acquisition cost is $97,832 per BTC. It now ranks above Tesla, Hut 8, Coinbase, and Block Inc. in BTC holdings. |
Strategic moves: |
Metaplanet issued $208M in 0% bonds to fund more BTC purchases. Plans to buy 100,000 BTC by 2026 and 210,000 BTC by 2027. Stock jumped 9% after the announcement, now up 350% YTD. |
