Cost to build a home in this part of Lafayette Parish spiked again in 2023

The priciest area to build a home in Lafayette Parish got even pricier in 2023 as the average sale price was nearly 30% higher than just two years ago.

Newly built homes in the southeastern part of the parish — the area ranging from U.S. 167 to U.S. 90 and south of Ambassador Caffery Parkway and Verot School Road — sold on average for $382,506 last year, up from $301,917 in 2021, according to data compiled by analyst Bill Bacque with Market Scope Consulting.
