This hasn’t exactly been the fresh start many of us hoped 2022 would be. Omicron tore through our holidays and back-to-school plans, dashing our dreams of entering a new year in which Covid-19 felt like a thing of the past. As the two-year anniversary of the pandemic’s beginning draws near, many of us feel discouragement doing the same. In “‘Could You Give Me One Sign of Hope Today?’ Looking for Peace in the Right Place,” Jill Heisey encourages us in our unwelcome seasons. She reminds us that peace comes from our security in the Lord, not in the fantasy of calm life circumstances. And she gives us a question to ask God when we don’t know what else to say: “Could you give me one sign of hope today?” As we set out to live faithfully and peacefully in all types of circumstances, may we remember that we can always ask God for a sign of hope. His answer may be large or it may be small, but the very act of asking will help us open our eyes to see his presence in our lives. May a sign of hope bring you strength and joy today.
