| Hello. US President Donald Trump's global tariffs plan has been temporarily reinstated, after a court agreed to pause a ruling blocking the sweeping trade levies while it considers the White House's appeal. SpaceX's third failed mission in a row raises questions about the future of Elon Musk's company - my colleague Emily Atkinson takes a look at some of them. And finally, video of a paraglider in China has gone viral after he accidentally soared to a height of 8,500m and was left covered in ice. | |

TOP OF THE AGENDA | Trump's tariffs plan temporarily reinstated as court considers White House appeal |
| | The case was brought by several states and small businesses. Credit: PA | In a win for the Trump administration, the US Appeals Court has ruled that the tariffs plan that had been struck down by a trade court on Wednesday will remain in place while it considers the White House's appeal. Earlier White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said "we will win this battle in court" and that the administration is working to "tackle rogue judges". But Wednesday's ruling raises the real question about whether Trump's wider so-called reciprocal tariffs will ever come into effect, writes economics editor Faisal Islam. |

YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED | After its third failed mission - what next for SpaceX? |
| | Test flights in January and March also ended in explosive failure. Credit: Getty Images | For the third time in a row, SpaceX's Starship test flight has ended in failure. Elon Musk and his company have grand designs of one day using their rocket system to ferry people and cargo to and from Mars, while Nasa wants to use it as part of its plans to establish a long-term human presence on the Moon (the first crewed test flight is scheduled two years from now). So, has Starship been overly ambitious? |
| | Emily Atkinson, digital journalist |
| What happened? | Despite Tuesday's flight being Starship's greatest progress to date - passing the points of explosion of the last two tests - shortly after the booster and ship separated, the spacecraft sprang leaks, spun out of control and broke up in orbit, while the booster plunged into the Gulf of Mexico. | Setbacks or learning opportunities? | SpaceX has a "fail fast, learn fast" approach and while this has paid off in the past, such as during development of reusable Falcon rockets, repeated failures raise questions about long-term reliability and safety, experts say, also highlighting the high costs of this. | Has SpaceX been overly ambitious? | In terms of Starship being ready for crewed missions to the Moon, time is running out and this could be a "very embarrassing thing for Nasa to navigate", says Dr Jonathan McDowell, an astronomer at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. "In the space game, we talk about 'Elon Time'. If he says he's going do something in one year, make a note in your calendar for three years from now." | | Starbase city: The area where Elon Musk's SpaceX company operates on the southern tip of Texas is to officially become a city. Future of Nasa: The success of SpaceX and other private-sector space firms is throwing up hard questions about America's "great national treasure", writes science correspondent Pallab Ghosh. Elon Musk: Watch key moments from the SpaceX founder's time at the Department of Government Efficiency, known as Doge, in the Trump administration after announcing he's leaving. | |

And finally... in China | A Chinese paraglider has survived being accidentally propelled 8,500m (27,800ft) into the sky above north-west China, state media reports. A camera that was mounted on Peng Yujiang's glider filmed the ordeal. The footage, which shows Mr Peng holding on to the glider's controls, with his face and much of his body covered in ice crystals, has since gone viral - you can watch it here. | |
