Summer's farewell tomorrow? It’ll be partly cloudy tonight, with lows in the lower 50s and lower 60s. Tomorrow will be mostly sunny with highs in the mid-70s to the mid-80s. The cold comes back Wednesday night, with lows in the 20s in parts of Minnesota by Thursday morning. An overdue plane with three people on board located in a water-filled quarry. Three people are believed dead in a plane crash in the southeast Twin Cities metro area. Authorities said a small plane had taken off from Fleming Field in South St. Paul and apparently crashed into a water-filled quarry beside the Mississippi River on Sunday. Washington County Sheriff Dan Starry said the wreckage was found in about 70 feet of water. Longtime MPR News reporter resigns, says editors dragged their feet on her story looking into allegations against a host at The Current. MPR stands by editorial decision, saying story "is not ready to run." Reporter Marianne Combs said the story focused on an on-air host for The Current and that editors “failed to move forward on the story” after months of reporting. MPR president Duchesne Drew said in a statement that newsroom editors “were blindsided by Marianne’s resignation." He went on to say, "The MPR News editors decided that the story, which deals with complex and sensitive issues, is not ready to run because it does not meet our journalistic standards.” Drew will be on Morning Edition Tuesday with host Cathy Wurzer addressing Combs' resignation and the editorial decision around the reporting. COVID-19 hospitalizations at two-month low; 643 new cases reported. Minnesota’s COVID-19 data continues to show some common themes of hope and concern. Cases are climbing, with 643 new confirmed infections. But the count of people currently in the hospital continues to decline - 233 Minnesotans are currently hospitalized, the lowest point in more than two months.
