As the threat of the coronavirus intensifies, the City has closed more of its buildings, facilities and amenities over the past week. We are urgently working on a coordinated local response around how to look after the most vulnerable people in our community, as well as financial assistance for residents and businesses, with details to be released shortly. Closure of facilities, amenities and programs Since our last eNews on Tuesday 24 March, the following has closed: Tennis courts Water play areas Toilets, BBQ’s and water fountains Facilities/ venues no longer for hire Youth Centre closed, (outreach essential services still running) Cockburn Men’s Shed City’s group health programs - HEAL, Food Sensations, MAN vs FAT, Walking Groups and Diabetes Education sessions All sporting facilities Toilets that will remain open include those at Coogee Beach foreshore, Naval Base Shacks, Manning Park, Bibra Lake (East & West), Coogee Beach Surf Life Saving Club and C.Y. O’Connor Beach. Staying fit in uncertain times If you're missing the gym or your favourite class, visit the Cockburn ARC website and choose from a variety of Les Mills online group fitness classes. Cockburn ARC will soon release a whole series of videos from your favourite ARC instructors, including live-streaming. All videos can be accessed my members or non-members, so don't put your fitness on hold! Financial assistance for residents and businesses The City is working to provide a range of financial assistance packages to residents and businesses in need within the City of Cockburn. More details to come. Are our parks and beaches still open? The City of Cockburn is actively monitoring its beaches to ensure social distancing is being adhered to by the community. Until further notice, all beaches remain open. All City parks remain open, although our tennis courts at Coogee Beach, Len Packham, Anning Park and Davilak Park are closed. How are we supporting business? The City and its various business partners are working together to offer support to our business community on what State and Federal COVID-19 support measures apply to them, as well as offering complimentary access to tailored business support and advice to help them prepare for business disruptions.
