Your Thursday evening update from the Lancashire Post
View email online | | | | | Oct 21, 2021 | | | | | | Good evening, So it appears the Government is hoping the half term holiday is enough to ‘fire-break’ Coronavirus infections once more as cases climb again. Downing Street has denied a ban on household mixing is being considered under a “Plan C” to combat coronavirus, as Boris Johnson hoped the school holidays will help cool rising cases. Ministers were trying to drive up booster jabs and vaccines for 12 to 15-year-olds in an attempt to resist implementing Plan B of its measures to control coronavirus this autumn and winter if hospitals come under further pressure. Is anyone else getting ‘tiers' vibes here? The confusion of that system should have been enough to put paid to more jargon-heavy proposals, as the public scratch their heads and wonder what on earth is going on. Meanwhile, health minister Edward Argar said the Government thinks people should still be able to make their own “educated judgments” when it comes to issues such as wearing face masks, adding the pressure on NHS is at a “sustainable” level. I’m not sure A&E staff would agree. Have a great evening, Nicola nicola.adam@jpimedia.co.uk | |
