View email online | | | | | Aug 24, 2020 | | | | | | Good afternoon and welcome to the final full week in August - how time does fly! In the news today we have police cracking down on illegal house parties following the mass dispersal of an illegal rave over the weekend. A man's body has been recovered from a lake in Chorley and fire crews tackled a blaze inside the 180-year-old Miley tunnel in Preston. On the weather front, and despite the sunshine breaking out of the clouds today, the Met Office is warning of a 'danger to life' as yellow warnings are issued for wind and rain in the county over much of the county tomorrow. In crime, a man has been arrested following two assaults on a woman in July and a hunt is one to find the 'overtaking' driver in Blackpool who smashed into a quick thinking mum who saved her baby's life by pushing the pram out of the way. She was thrown across the bonnet. Our traffic and travel updates include the extended closure of a bridge to traffic and all the latest roadworks taking place across the North West this week. In the latest coronavirus news, Preston will get local case tracing powers when an infected person can't be found after 24 hours. As always, stay safe and have a lovely Monday.
