Last week we talked about identifying the areas you need to improve in your Attitude, Effort, and Skill in order to get what you want. In order to get what you want, you have to grow and be more effective tomorrow than you are today. This doesn’t happen by chance! You need a plan! Here is a great way to create the plan - I am going to use becoming a successful life-changing coach as the example. What you want: To become a successful life-changing coach. Why do you want it: It will allow me to achieve my dreams and goals by helping others achieve their dreams and goals. Performance growth opportunities: Attitude - I need to create a more positive atmosphere when I meet with coaching prospects for the first time. Effort - I need to make at least 10 contacts a day by phone to people letting them know about my coaching practice. Skill - I need to develop a very fluid and natural process for helping people discover their Why so that they can step into their purpose if they choose to. CREATING THE PLAN: Attitude Plan: Each day before I start reaching out to my coaching prospects, I will review my Why and then listen to or read information that is uplifting and specific to creating the right mindset and attitude. I will time block this in my calendar. Effort Plan: Each day I will contact the 10 names I have on my list by phone during a set time on my calendar. I will have prepared an intentional voicemail message if they do not answer. I will follow up those I leave a voicemail for with an email letting them know I will call them back in two days time. I will schedule the follow up call in my calendar. If I reach out to someone 7 times and get no return response, I will move them to my inactive list and will reach out to them one more time 60 days later. When I finish my 10 calls for the day, I will create the list for the next 10 calls for tomorrow. Skill Plan: I will plan 20 minutes a day for working on the discovery process conversation. This can be roll playing with a fellow coach, reading material from successful coaches on this process, watching or listening to a successful coach on this subject, or reviewing and updating my own discovery coaching conversation outline. The last 5 minutes of time each day will be a mental model of me doing a perfect discovery call with a prospect. Now it’s time to implement the plan! As you can see, creating and IMPLEMENTING a specific plan for developing your Attitude, Effort, and Skill is essential to whatever goal, dream, purpose, or why you are striving to achieve. Go ahead.
