Southland Credit Union To Enable Bitcoin Purchases In Partnership with NYDIG

Southland Credit Union, a billion dollar institution, is now the second credit union in Southern California to enable its customers to purchase bitcoin through its mobile banking app.

To celebrate this new feature, the Los Alamitos-based credit union is celebrating by offering $5 in free bitcoin to members enrolling in the new service before October 18. Even though transfers between users are still not allowed, the movement signals progress and approval of the bitcoin ecosystem. It shows the beginning of bitcoin as a savings mechanism even in traditional finance.
