Dear Voornaam

Are you a researcher with a cancer research related idea that might make a great business and enterprise, but not sure how to start?

The Bio-spark Entrepreneurial Programme in partnership with our innovation arm Cancer Research Horizons is seeking applications for its Company-seeding fellowship programme for PhDs, postdocs and early-stage scientists. It provides six months of mentorship and networking with potential investors for those with ideas for setting up companies. Fellows will own the rights to any ideas developed during the mentorship process.

In addition, Cancer Research Horizons will make a 50k translational research grant available to develop a novel oncology project.

Applications for company-seeding fellows are closing soon (23 October), so click here to find out more and apply.

UK RESEARCHERS CAN JOIN HORIZON EUROPE PROGRAMMES FROM 2024

This September, the UK Government and the European Commission reached an agreement on the UKs association to Horizon Europe and Copernicus from 1 January 2024. This allows UK organisations to participate in Horizon Europe calls for proposals on the same terms as institutions from other associated countries from the 2024 Work Programme and onwards, including any 2024 calls opening this year.

UK applicants to calls in 2021, 2022, and 2023 Work Programmes remain fully eligible for evaluation by the EU and, if successful, for funding through the UK Horizon Guarantee.

The UK Research Office has information and resources on available calls, grant preparation and related issues.
