As Israel recovers from the impact of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic, the Jewish State unveiled an ambitious $1.3 billion plan to reduce the cost of daily living after hearing raucous complaints from thousands of citizens. The plan, announced by Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman, includes tax cuts for working families and the abolishment of tariffs on food-related imports. This plan is projected to save the average family approximately $3,270 a year. Supporters say it will help temper the crushing financial pressures that millions of Israelis are currently grappling with, while detractors say the help being extended is not nearly enough to make a meaningful impact on Israel’s soaring poverty rate. |

Barnabas Szollos has achieved Israel’s best-ever individual Alpine Combined Ski results at the Beijing Winter Games. The speedy Israeli skier finished only 1.75 seconds behind Austria, and landed in 6th place -- a first for the Jewish country. Israel cheerfully tweeted this message after the win: “For a country where most people ski on sand, 6th place is pretty good. Mazal Tov champion!” Barnabas’ father, Peter Szollos, competed and later coached for Israel’s national team. Four ice skaters and two skiers are representing Israel at the 2022 Winter Olympics and proudly representing Israel on the international stage. |

| | I am so grateful for this rewarding experience. When I hand a young boy or girl a food package, I can see their small eyes light up with joy. At the end of my shift, I will have encountered dozens of people who will touch my heart, make me smile, or give me something positive to reflect on. I feel a genuine sense of contentment and believe I am making the world into a better place by helping the less fortunate. The fact is, my volunteering experience at Feed Israel has been very inspiring and is transforming me into a more wholesome person, simply by doing acts of kindness each day. |
