Dear John, Happy Fall friends! Ananda is powerfully leading the charge to "Be the Change" by spreading the importance of meditation around the world. We hope you will participate by scrolling to the bottom of this email and pledging your meditation hours. Another way to be the change is to pay attention to nurturing yourself with healthy food that blesses you and all those you share meals with. Fall is a wonderful time to prepare nurturing meals. Below, you will find a warming recipe for acorn squash and ideas for healthy side dishes. Soon, we'll be turning our attention toward holiday meals for Thanksgiving and Christmas. In The Healing Kitchen by Diksha McCord, you will find recipes for every season. More than a cookbook, this book will show you how to raise the vibration of your food by raising your consciousness while preparing your meals. "The Secret of Radiant Health and Well-Being Is . . . Concentrating on the vital essence of what you eat. The more you make it a practice to eat consciously, the more the energy in what you eat will fill your being—and the more, as a result, you will want to eat correctly."—From Secrets of Radiant Health and Well-Being by J. Diksha McCord Excerpt from The Healing Kitchen: Centering Before Cooking • In fall the weather becomes cold, windy, and changeable. It’s time to keep the body warm and nurtured, as well as grounded, with nourishing warm meals. • Before cooking, take a few moments to center yourself.
• Start by taking a few slow, deep, warm breaths. Consciously relax away from all your duties and responsibilities into your inner haven of peace. Don’t allow the busyness of life to overwhelm you. Make an effort to cook with focused awareness, blessing the food along the way, so that it will bless and nourish those who eat it. Most of the humor in this book was taken from Yogananda’s writings. Also included are experiences with the master that demonstrate his playful spirit. These were written by Swami Kriyananda, from his years of being trained personally by Yogananda, or from stories that were shared with him by other close disciples.
The message of this book is both playful and serious. The serious message is that joy can be found within us always.
Drawing on his bestselling book series, Swami Kriyananda (J. Donald Walters) offers sage words on virtually all aspects of the search for fulfillment: from success and prosperity to leadership and winning people to your ideas.
