Pedal the Pacific
This past Saturday, July 29th, ten college-aged women from across the United States finished a 1,700 mile bike ride from Seattle, Washington to San Diego, California. These courageous riders are members of Pedal the Pacific, a group dedicated to raising awareness of domestic sex trafficking while simultaneously raising funds for organizations dedicated to combatting trafficking, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

During their long journey down the west coast, people would often stop them and ask, “why”? This paves the way for riders to start a conversation about their movement and what they stand for: Cycling for a world where people are not for sale.

When this year's team crossed the finish line, NCMEC was there to celebrate the latest riders as they completed their long and arduous journey. At times it was grueling, but the team finished with big smiles as they embraced each other and Pedal the Pacific alumni. This emotional moment was punctuated with screams of joy, when they learned Pedal the Pacific had officially achieved their fundraising goal of $140,000. Hitting this goal was monumental, and brings their total raised since 2017 to over $1,000,000!
