Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard is considering boycotting the October 15 debate airing on CNN. In a video to her supporters, Gabbard slammed the Democratic National Committee and the media for “holding ‘so-called’ debates which really are not debates at all, but rather commercialized reality television meant to entertain rather than inform or enlighten.” Gabbard said she will decide in a few days whether to participate in the event. HBO is adding mental health awareness notifications ahead of some of its shows and movies, to identify mental illnesses that appear in the episode and provide information on how to get help. “HBO has always been at the forefront of telling stories featuring complex characters, some of whom deal with mental illness, from The Sopranos to Euphoria, encouraging more conversation around the different facets of mental health,” said Jason Mulderig, VP of Brand & Product Marketing at HBO. “We are not saying ‘viewer discretion is advised.’ We are saying ‘viewer conversation is encouraged.’” The disclaimers are part of HBO’s “It’s OK” initiative, aimed at destigmatizing mental. In another initiative to help viewers - in this case the pint-sized variety - Sesame Street has muppet Karli tackling the issue of her mother’s addiction during the show’s 50th season. The story is part of the Sesame Street in Communities project, which also offers materials to providers to help them discuss addiction with children. The wrongful death case against AMC brought by the family of late The Walking Dead stuntman John Bernecker will go forward to trial, ruled a Georgia judge. Bernacker suffered fatal injuries in a stunt fall in 2017. “This was a tragic accident,” said AMC after the ruling. “While we continue to believe our motions for summary judgment were appropriate and supported by the facts in this case and the law, we respect the Court’s decision – without making any determination on the merits of either side’s arguments – to allow the case to proceed.” |

Apple withdrew an app that helped Hong Kong protesters track police, while Google yanked a mobile game that allowed players to assume the role of a protester. “Letting poisonous software have its way is a betrayal of the Chinese people’s feelings,” said an article in China’s People’s Daily about Apple’s app, HKmap.live “The app displays police locations and we have verified with the Hong Kong Cybersecurity and Technology Crime Bureau that the app has been used to target and ambush police, threaten public safety, and criminals have used it to victimize residents in areas where they know there is no law enforcement,” said Apple in a statement. “This app violates our guidelines and local laws. Audience intelligence and data-management platform Tru Optik announced plans to power a free privacy compliance solution for CTV and Advanced Media.
