Our main services include the Facebook app, Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus, Workplace, Portal and Calibra. These apps and technologies have shared infrastructure for years and the teams behind them frequently work together,” said Antonio Lucio, CMO, in a blog post. “We started being clearer about the products and services that are part of Facebook years ago, adding a company endorsement to products like Oculus, Workplace and Portal. And in June we began including ‘from Facebook’ within all our apps.” Over the coming weeks, the company will start using the new brand within its products and marketing materials, including a new company website. PBS is also going to start the new year with a new look, including a refreshed logo, and new color palette, typeface and illustration style. “PBS has connected with hundreds of millions of Americans through the stories that matter to our lives,” said Ira Rubenstein, Chief Digital & Marketing Officer, PBS. “Our new look and feel better represents how we are doing that in today’s digital age, while also preserving the most iconic aspects of this beloved brand.” Over the year, about 70% of local PBS member stations will be adopting the new brand identity. Fox and Warner Bros. inked multi-year renewal deals for Extra, TMZ, TMZ Live and The Real that calls for the last 90 seconds to two minutes of each block to be programming. “We are very pleased these long-running franchises will continue to thrive on their stations, and even more so as a result of this new seamless format,” said Jeffrey Schlesinger, President of Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Distribution. The goal of eliminating commercial breaks at the end of shows is to improve viewer retention. A Maine law that requires cable companies to offer channels a la carte is being contested by Comcast, Disney, Fox Cable and NBCUniversal, who are seeking a temporary restraining order to delay the new law. A federal judge is considering the request. Seth Meyers’ first Netflix special, Lobby Baby, includes a button that lets viewers skip the Donald Trump jokes. “It was a way to build in the response to anyone who would say, ‘Oh, let me guess there’s going to be jokes about the President,'” Meyers told CNN. Not that Meyers expects the button to get much use. “Sometimes at a fancy restaurant they’ll put parsley on your plate and you’ll think, well, that’s a nice touch, but you’re not going to eat the parsley,” noted Meyers.
