IN THE NEWS CBS Evening News’ relocation to Washington D.C. is official, with the Norah O’Donnell-led team now broadcasting from the capital. “Our move to Washington, D.C., allows Norah to bring viewers the heart of the story from the center of where everything is happening,” said the show’s executive producer, Jay Shaylor. “Being based in the nation’s capital allows us to showcase Norah’s exceptional skills as a reporter, while still bringing our audience the in-depth investigations, powerful storytelling and worldwide reach people expect from CBS News.” O’Donnell was named anchor of the program in May. Ahead of the December 6 season three premiere of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon Prime, Tony Shaloub (Abe) spoke to Cynopsis about the difference between working on a streaming show and on Maisel in particular. “We have no idea what the numbers are and that will probably remain a mystery. But the number of people who want to talk about the show is kind of phenomenal, probably because of its universal themes - like family. “It’s certainly the first time I’ve done TV where we’ve gone to another country (France) to shoot. In terms of locations and the scale of this show, it’s massive and much more like a feature. This season, we have 800 background people in one scene: Who does that? Monk [Shaloub’s USA Network show] certainly had a devoted following, but this is on another level. Like a tidal wave.” Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg isn’t backing down on his company’s policy of allowing misleading political ads. “What I believe is that in a democracy it’s really important that people can see for themselves what politicians are saying, so they can make their own judgments,” he told CBS This Morning’s Gayle King. “I don’t think that a private company should be censoring politicians or news.” President Donald Trump’s 2020 re-election campaign said it will no longer credential journalists from Bloomberg News for rallies or campaign events, and will deal with the outlet’s reporters on a “case by case basis.” The announcement came after Bloomberg News said its news staff would not investigate company founder Michael Bloomberg, his family, his foundation or his Democratic rivals during the billionaire’s own presidential run. “The decision by Bloomberg News to formalize preferential reporting is troubling and wrong,” said Trump campaign manager Brad Pascale. Bloomberg News editor-in-chief John Micklethwait responded, “The accusation of bias couldn’t be further from the truth. We have covered Donald Trump fairly and in an unbiased way since he became a candidate in 2015 and will continue to do so despite the restrictions imposed by the Trump campaign.” In a memo to staff last week, Micklethwait said Bloomberg News was keeping to its practice of not investigating the boss, as it did when Bloomberg was mayor of New York, and was extending the policy to his Democratic rivals out of fairness. |

The 60% of customers who regularly watch sports are least likely to leave, but as cable companies move towards profitable subscribers, and push OTT products to their customer base, “cord cutting becomes ever easier,” said analyst Michael Nathanson, adding, “This could add further pressure to the pay TV ecosystem and keep the rate of cord cutting elevated in 2020.” Netflix is in over 300 million pay TV homes worldwide, reports UK research firm Ampere Analysis, over 50 million of which were added this year. In North America, the streamer is available in about 86% of North American pay-TV homes. Roku stock, which has been flying high this year, slipped 15% on Monday after Morgan Stanley warned clients the company’s share price was overvalued.
