SPONSORSHIP & PROMOTION Sharpie announced the launch of a new content series and special edition packs and markers in partnership with The Players’ Tribune, the media company that provides athletes with a platform to connect directly with their fans by publishing their first-person stories. The series and each special edition pack showcases an elite athlete and the charity they support: Aaron Rodgers and the Wounded Warrior Project, Chris Paul and the Chris Paul Family Foundation, Alex Morgan and UNICEF Kid Power and Aaron Judge and #ICanHelp. Each pack features a picture of the athlete, their charity and includes a marker printed with the athlete’s signature. Sox Lunch, a highly local, mobile-first, daily e-news on the Boston Red Sox that now has in excess of 50,000 dedicated followers, announced a partnership through Patreon to sponsor interns for the season. The partnership will expand throughout the year to have Red Sox Nation support other common work-based initiatives as well. Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, the Mayor’s Commission for Persons with Disabilities, and the Mayor’s Office of New Urban Mechanics announced a partnership with remote assistive technology company Aira to provide free access to its smartphone app during One Boston Day and the Boston Marathon for people who are blind or have low vision. Using the camera on Aira’s smartglasses or any smartphone, a person who is blind or low vision can download the Aira app and use it to connect to a remote set of human eyes. Aira’s app will be available for free use during the Boston Marathon weekend, throughout the entire City of Boston. The AFL announced partnerships with DraftKings, Sportradar and Vegas Stats & Information Network (VSiN) as well as a deal to have 12 of its games carried on Facebook Watch. MLB announced that the 2020 All-Star Game has been awarded to the Los Angeles Dodgers. DIGITAL AND STREAMING FloSports and Shamrock Fighting Championships announced a multi-year partnership to live stream every Shamrock Fighting Championships event on FloCombat.com. The agreement enables FloCombat to exclusively air each event live and on-demand, and provide fans with in-depth coverage, as well as exclusive fighter interviews, stories, and more. WWE-related content saw more than 640 million video views across WWE.com, WWE App and social media during WrestleMania Week, an increase of 5 percent year-over-year. WWE content on YouTube, WWE.com, WWE App and social media was viewed for more than 13.1 million hours during WrestleMania Week, an increase of 20 percent year-over-year. WWE generated $3.7 million in WrestleMania 34 merchandise revenue, making it WWE’s second-highest grossing WrestleMania, only behind WrestleMania 32 in Dallas. Revenue was also up 42% or $1.1 million, from the last time WrestleMania was in New Orleans (WrestleMania 30 in 2014). Sports-first live streaming TV service fuboTV added Sports Illustrated TV to its growing lineup. Through a distribution agreement with SI TV, fuboTV becomes the first multichannel video programming distributor to carry Sports Illustrated’s OTT service. This also marks the official launch of SI TV as a 24/7 linear channel. BBC America continues to put up surprising numbers for Premier League Darts. To date over 8.7 million unique viewers have tuned in to Premiere League Darts this season on BBC America with nearly 1 million non-linear views.
