The John Albert Jones home, 412 E. South Street, in Tremont was once a station in the Underground Railroad that ran through rural Tazewell County. The house was built about 1845 on Tremont’s southeast edge. Jones is believed to have hidden slaves headed to freedom in Chicago and Canada.
