Lack of water and a search for land: This popular farm's hiatus will leave a 'void'

Evan Barry, owner of Down River Farm, pulls straw off of garlic plants that have been growing over the winter on the farm property he and Kira Santiago of Kira's Flowers lease in East Peoria. Barry says that a lack of water and continued growth of Down River Farm makes the business unsustainable in its current state, forcing him to take a hiatus for the 2023 season as he searches for a more suitable plot of land.
