View email online | | | | | Jul 28, 2021 | | | | | | Good evening, The Government has announced it is to remove travel restrictions between England and the USA and the EU for those who are fully vaccinated. It means that people will not have to quarantine on their return - although they will have to show proof of a negative test. So is this ‘reckless’ as the Opposition says or is it a major step back to freedom and normality as the PM claims? There is no doubt that the Government has been under huge pressure from the travel industry and its own backbenchers to start to remove restrictions on travel for those who have had both vaccinations. What is the point of being vaccinated if it does not bring new freedoms, they say? The Opposition is concerned about importing yet another new variant of Covid into the country while we still have around a third of under 30s who are refusing to have a jab. But where do we draw the line? At some point we are going to have to start opening up the country and getting on with our lives. Cases are falling, vaccine rates are high and many of us are meeting outdoors. Will there ever be a better time? Until next time, take care Gillian Contact me at gillian.parkinson@jpimedia.co.uk Thanks for reading.
