SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY Matthew 6:19-20
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. Click Here!

QUOTE OF THE DAY Heber J. Grant
“Here is the keynote, Latter-day Saints. Let us realize that God is mightier than all the earth. Let us realize that if we are faithful in keeping the commandments of God His promises will be fulfilled to the very letter. For He has said that not one jot or tittle shall fall to the ground unfulfilled [see Matthew 5:18]. The trouble is, the adversary of men’s souls blinds their minds. He throws dust, so to speak, in their eyes, and they are blinded with the things of this world. Men do not lay up treasures in heaven, where moth and rust corrupt not, where thieves do not break through and steal [see Matthew 6:19–20], but they set their hearts upon the things of this world, and the adversary obtains power over them” (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Heber J. Grant, p. 30-31). For more Quote of the Day Click Here!
TODAY IN CHURCH HISTORY June 18, 2021
1844 - The Nauvoo Legion assembled in the morning to organize and prepare for any mob action against the city of Nauvoo. At 1:45 p. m. the Mayor, Joseph Smith, declared the city of Nauvoo under martial law. At 2:00 p. m. the Prophet Joseph Smith gives his last public discourse to the men of the Nauvoo Legion in full uniform from the top of the frame of a building across the street south of his mansion home (corner of Main and Water Streets). “I do not regard my own life,” he said. “I am ready to be offered a sacrifice for this people; for what can our enemies do? Only kill the body . . . God has tried you. You are a good people; therefore I love you with all my heart. Greater love hath no man than that he should lay down his life for his friends. You have stood by me in the hour of trouble, and I am willing to sacrifice my life for your preservation”(History of the Church, 6:500). For More Church History, Click Here!
Stand By My Servant Joseph; The Story of the Joseph Knight Family and the Restoration by William G. Hartley In Nauvoo, the Prophet Joseph Smith reflected on the course of the Restoration and paid tribute to Joseph Knight's family, who had stood by him loyally. "They are my friends," he wrote. Regarded by many as the "second family of the Restoration," the Knight family participated in many of the events of the early Church. Joseph Smith used Brother Knight's wagon to retrieve the plates from the hill Cumorah, and the family was in the first group the Prophet sent to settle Jackson County, Missouri. The Knights endured and stayed faithful throughout their many trials and moved west with the Saints to settle the Salt Lake Valley. William G. Hartley, a highly regarded historian, has carefully researched a multitude of sources and woven a story that is both readable and reliable. This book illustrates the faithfulness of the Joseph Knight family and bears stirring testimony of the prophetic calling of Joseph Smith. Click Here!
