QUOTE OF THE DAY Ezra Taft Benson
“I bear witness to you, my beloved brethren and sisters, that God lives. He is not dead. … I testify there is a God in heaven who hears and answers prayer. I know this to be true. I would humbly urge all … to keep in close touch with our Father in heaven through prayer. Never before in this gospel dispensation has there been a greater need for prayer. That we will constantly depend upon our Heavenly Father and conscientiously strive to improve our communication with Him is my earnest plea” (Teachings of Presidents of the Church; Ezra Taft Benson, p. 56). TODAY IN CHURCH HISTORY June 24, 2021
1844 - Joseph and Hyrum Smith, along with a group of brethren, leave Nauvoo at 6:30 a. m. for Carthage. As they arrived at the Temple, Joseph looked with admiration on it and the city and remarked, “This is the loveliest place and the best people under the heavens; little do they know the trials that await them” (History of the Church, 6:554). . . Several times Joseph made comments about not coming back, including the statement, “I am going like a lamb to the slaughter, but I am calm as a summer’s morning. I have a conscience void of offense toward God and toward all men. If they take my life I shall die an innocent man, and my blood shall cry from the ground for vengeance, and it shall be said of me ‘He was murdered in cold blood!’” (History of the Church, 6:555). Seer Stone v. Urim and Thummim: Book of Mormon Translation on Trial by L. Hannah Stoddard Seer Stone v. Urim and Thummim places the Book of Mormon translation on trial, presenting the latest research in one of the most comprehensive treatments of the translation process to date. "Seer Stone v. Urim and Thummim" makes a great case for simply going 'back to the basics'! That is, accepting the translation of the Book of Mormon as Joseph said it was done, as opposed to how others claim it was done. It is well researched and very enlightening and a must read for those who are willing to accept the words of Joseph and other prophets at face value." --Kay M Godfrey, Author, Joseph Smith Epoch Historian "As you read this book, it will validate your knowledge that the Book of Mormon is a real history of a real people. The Stoddards have once again born witness that Joseph Smith was and is truly our Prophet, Seer, and Revelator. You will love this book." --Rian Nelson, Author and speaker, FIRM Foundation CLICK HERE!
