SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY Doctrine and Covenants 75:28-29
And again, verily I say unto you, that every man who is obliged to provide for his own family, let him provide, and he shall in nowise lose his crown; and let him labor in the church. Let every man be diligent in all things. And the idler shall not have place in the church, except he repent and mend his ways. Click Here!

QUOTE OF THE DAY Joseph Fielding Smith
“In the early days of the Church in these valleys [in Utah], great stress was placed upon industry by President Brigham Young and the other brethren, and it was necessary because our forefathers came here with nothing. They had to work. They had to be industrious. It was essential that they produce the things they needed, and therefore counsel to that extent and in that direction was given to them constantly that they should be industrious. They were taught not to be proud in their hearts. They came out here where they could worship the Lord their God and keep his commandments. They were told to be humble as well as to be diligent. … Oh, I wish we could remember that. I am sorry that we have forgotten” (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Fielding Smith, p. 289). TODAY IN CHURCH HISTORY November 24, 2020
1835 - In the evening Joseph, with Emma, attended a wedding at the home of Hyrum Smith. The Prophet records that he solemnized “the matrimonial ceremony between Newel Knight and Lydia Goldthwaite” and that the ceremony “was original with me, and in substance as follows—You covenant to be each other’s companions through life, and discharge the duties of husband and wife in every respect; to which they assented. I then pronounced them husband and wife in the name of God, and also pronounced upon them the blessings that the Lord conferred upon Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, that is, to multiply and replenish the earth, with the addition of long life and prosperity” (History of the Church, 2:320).
