| | | VIDEO: The FDNY has called out the drivers of two cars parked near fire hydrants, saying they slowed down the agency’s response to a deadly fire in Brooklyn early Sunday morning. “Seconds count in an emergency. Keeping fire hydrants unobstructed helps firefighters respond quickly,” the FDNY wrote on X. On one of the cars, etched out in snow, appears to be the words “GET OFF HYDRANT.” |

| | | The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection will begin rolling out a long-awaited update to its fire hazard severity zones Monday, which is set to more than double the number of acres in local fire jurisdictions that must comply with stricter fire safety building codes. Previously, the state mapped and applied fire safety regulations only to local areas with the highest possible fire hazards, deemed “very high.” |

However, that is coming to an end as a new training facility is being built at their Millcreek Campus. In the meantime, the current Recruit Class 123 will be the last class to train on the historic grounds. For many leaders and recruits with the Cincinnati Fire Department, this first week of training the new class has been bittersweet, knowing these will be the final classes. |
