We are discussing awareness. I start out with my responses to what I see. I begin to inquire into my responses, the conscious responses, which I can fairly easily understand and go through. But there are hidden responses of which I don’t know the motives, the urges, the compulsions – all the things stored up inside. Thought approaches this with the desire to find out, to inform itself of the content of that unconscious, and so there is a struggle, analysis, interpretation of dreams – the whole business of it.
