K: Consciousness is its content. Its contents are put together by thought – the whole of consciousness is put together by thought. An incident takes place whose energy or shock drives out consciousness for a second, or for days or months or whatever it is. Then as that incident wears off, you begin to name it. Then you bring that thing into consciousness, but that thing is not in consciousness when it takes place. Q: That thing, when you don’t name it, what is it? K: That is ‘what is’.
