Attention means highest form of sensitivity – to insult or flattery. A mind that is very sensitive cannot possibly be marked. Can one live that way? These marks, these ashes, are the centre around which I revolve: the ‘me’, my house, my property, my wife, my child, my country, my God, etc. – ‘my, my, my’. That is memory. Can the mind be free of that centre and yet live in this world, receiving all experience and not having any mark on it? If I see that, the actuality of it, I am free of the whole works.
