One has to be aware of our various escapes because, for most of us, a problem becomes intensified, becomes acute, only when it is something immediate that demands all our attention. Most of us do not want to live with such intensity, so problems increase, multiply and take root. So one has to be aware of how the mind escapes. We are very good at escaping from life – the churches, the literature, our own experiences, our knowledge, our ways of looking at life, are various forms of psychological escapes, and so we never come into contact with the fact.
