Celebrating pianist Angela Hewitt, discover concerts near you and Emily Sun's debut concerto album

Dame Joan Sutherland recognised at the Australian Women in Music Awards

From opera to heavy music, women, non-binary and gender non-conforming members of the Australian music community were recognised at the 2024 Australian Women In Music Awards held in Meanjin/Brisbane.

Dame Joan Sutherland OM, AC, DBE and Patricia "Little Pattie" Amphlett were both inducted into the Awards' Honour Roll.

Paying tribute 'La Stupenda' was First Nations soprano Nina Korbe, who performed a stunning rendition of one of Sutherland's signature pieces, the Jewel aria from Gounod's Faust.

Pianist Sonya Lifschitz received the Excellence in Classical Music Award, with Linda Thompson taking out the Opera Impact Award.

ABC Classic and ABC Jazz's very own Kat McGuffie was awarded the Creative Leadership Award, recognising her passion and commitment to broadening audiences and representation in music.
