The final lecture in the 2024 Daylight Talk series is entitled ‘Crafting the Intangible’ by Department of ARCHITECTURE Co, in collaboration with the National University of Singapore (NUS). The talk looks at the role of daylight as an intangible architectural material, exploring its interaction with intangible elements such as shadows, air, temperature, human activities and ideas, as well as its interaction with tangible materials such as concrete, brick, steel, timber and glass. By examining various projects, the discussion highlights a key aspect of Sampling's approach to design: the study of how architecture reveals itself through the perceptions of its inhabitants, offering unexpected and unconventional experiences. Florian Heinzelmann, Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore (NUS), presents the lecture and moderates the Q&A session. |
