This Weekend at Dazzle @ Baur’s | | Aakash Mittal’s Awaz Trio Album ReleaseFriday, Sept. 17th - 7pm Aakash Mittal’s Awaz Trio Album, Nocturne, summons the teeming sound world of nighttime Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) as well as the deep culture that surrounds jazz as a nighttime performance art. This show is getting lots of great press, so you definitely don’t want to miss it. Best of Jazz enthusiastically reviewed the newly released album. It was featured on Denver.org’s Events (we didn’t submit it) and in the Denver Post’s Things to Do whose story was then picked up by Eminetra, Nation World News, and even the Detroit Daily News. Aakash is such a great guy and a Colorado native. He and his fellow musicias have spent this week visiting classrooms around Colorado, including Loveland High School and Metropolitan Sate University of Denver to help encourage students’ love of music. Don’t miss this unique show with some of the best new sounds to come out this year. Aakash Mittal (Alto Saxophone), Rajna Swaminathan (Mridangam), Matt Fuller (Guitar) |

As an acclaimed trombonist, composer, and producer, Delfeayo Marsalis has also dedicated his prolific career to music theatre and education. Along with the Marsalis family of musicians including his father Ellis, the artist was destined to a life in music. Marsalis has a dual Bachelor’s degree in Music performance and Production from Berklee College of Music, and a Masters in Jazz Performance from the University of Louisville. A Doctorate has also been conferred from the New England College. “Delfeayo is, in many ways, the most fun of the Marsalises. He's the family trombonist. And record producer. And he seems to be the family wise guy too.” ~Jeff Simon, The Buffalo News | |
