A single laptop oversaw this record-breaking drone display

The complex light show involved 10,197 quadcopters

A dazzling light show in Shenzhen, China, recently earned the Guinness World Record for deploying the most drones (10,197) from a single computer (outdoors).

Improvements in drone technology mean that almost any image can now be recreated using LED lights on multiple drones. A lot of work goes into such shows, with organizers first having to create a storyboard showing the kind of display they want the drones to perform. The ideas are then transferred to sophisticated 3D animation tools and other software to map out the complicated path that each drone has to fly to create the imagery.

Finally, each of the drones receives a specific set of instructions from a computer to make the display come to life ...

The Google Pixel 9a just leaked

The high-end Pixel 9 is already out, while the Pixel 9a should land next year

High-resolution renders have been shared by Android Headlines and OnLeaks that claim to show the upcoming Pixel 9a smartphone, Google’s mid-range variant of the Pixel series.

While the new Pixel 9 features a redesigned camera bar, the Pixel 9a looks as if it will sport a different design in the form of a dual camera system that appears flush with the rest of the phone’s back, which should mean less of a wobble when used on a flat surface.

The apparent dual camera setup uses what we assume will be a primary camera and an ultrawide lens, suggesting the absence of a telephoto sensor ...

Will Meta trains AI on smart glasses photos? It won't say

The smart specs captures images via a discreet camera on the frame

Meta has already said it will use public Instagram and Facebook posts to train its AI models. But what about images captured by its Ray-Ban Meta smart spectacles?

The company is reluctant to confirm either way, telling TechCrunch that it’s “not publicly discussing that.”

TechCrunch is voicing concern because of Ray-Ban Meta’s new AI feature, which will take a stream of images in response to a wearer’s inquiry. The images of a wearer’s surroundings will be fed into a multimodal AI model so that it can respond to an inquiry. But it’s not clear if those images, many of which might be personal and not shared with others, will also be used to train Meta’s AI models ...

Upcoming vampire flick Nosferatu promises to scare the pants off you

Robert Eggers writes and directs a remake of the 1922 German silent film Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror

Described as a “gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her,” Robert Eggers’ upcoming horror film, Nosferatu, should have you on the edge of your seat when it hits screens later this year, Digital Trends reported.

“This creature is a force more powerful than evil,” Willem Dafoe’s Professor Albin Eberhart Von Franz says in the just-released trailer (above). The “creature,” by the way, is the terrifying vampire Count Orlok, played by Bill Skarsgård.

The woman at the center of Orlok’s obsession is Ellen Hutter, played by Lily-Rose Depp. While Ellen’s husband, Thomas (Nicholas Hoult), fights to protect her, Ellen is the only one who can save everyone from Orlok's wrath ...
