Property Update
In November, I announced two donors had challenged us to match their donations totaling ten thousand dollars. This was a big challenge, but I really believed it was something we could do. It is with much excitement that I am able to report, with your help, we not only met the match, but we also surpassed it. Your November response helped us move the thermometer from seventy-five thousand to 103 thousand was an that was an incredible feeling. We are just forty-seven thousand dollars away from our 150-thousand-dollar goal to purchase the property. Folks, I know I am not by myself when I say, “I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.” Faith in God is the key. Ephesians 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask and think, according to the power that worketh in us… Remember, every gift is important and takes us closer to our goal. Explosive Growth
SmartAsset, a financial technology company, recently completed a study across the United States. Among 344 of our largest cities, Murfreesboro Tennessee stood out as the sixteenth fastest growing city in the country. What does this mean? As the number of people doing well increases, there is also a growing number of people struggling with poverty, hunger, and homelessness. When you are listed in the top twenty cities for growth, you absolutely cannot ignore poverty and homelessness. The solution is to try to help as many people as possible get back on their feet and this has to be intentional. Murfreesboro Rescue Mission was founded for this purpose. While we are not where we want to be in all of this, we are moving closer every day.
Winter Shelter
Coldest Nights shelters are officially open for the winter season. This is a life-saving tool that is used to give our homeless men and women a warm place to sleep when temperatures pose the greatest danger.
Our Goal
Our goal is two-fold: First, we want to take care of the homeless as they come for shelter this season. Specifically, we will provide warm clean sheets and blankets as in previous years. We will also share in providing meals on designated nights. Second, we are currently raising funds to purchase property that will lead to a year-round solution for shelter.
