Christmas and beyond… All of us remember being in situations where we couldn’t travel home for the holidays. My military obligation and some of my college years are two experiences that come to my mind. No doubt you have similar and possibly some of the same type experiences I had. Even though you couldn’t be home, you made the best of it and you probably have memories of being invited by others to join their family or circle of friends. It’s a unique experience, but it’s also a time of gratitude for those you’re with and for those you miss being with. This Christmas, many in the homeless community will experience that same feeling you and I felt and some even worse. This year we will open Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to help create a place of belonging for those who won’t have family to be around. I want to thank you for being a part of this ministry that helps wrap its arms around our community’s less fortunate with food and shelter. In a time of loneliness and depression, this becomes a powerful reminder that God cares through people in our community. Normally, we don’t think of shelter as being a gift, but that’s exactly what this becomes during the holiday season. If you could see the faces of the people we serve, you would see how your gift impacts a life. This year’s most meaningful gift won’t be found under a tree but on the face of those we help to shelter. Again, thanks for being a part of what we do. |

Today we offer shelter in a time of crises, but we need a shelter all year round. In November, I introduced MRM’s phase I plan to purchase property in 2020. Many of you responded by sending a monetary gift to say, “I agree and want to be a part of that.” You have encouraged me to no end. If you have not yet given, there is still plenty of time. Please continue to give to this project as you can but most important, pray for this ministry. We are excited about what God is doing and we believe He will finish what He started. You can Apply Your Gift towards: A. Winter shelter today: B. Property purchase Phase I (Select Capital Campaign) Merry Christmas! Ed Grimes |
