However, in 1931 a revolution took place where Coca-Cola commissioned an illustrator by the name of Haddon Sundblom to develop advertising images using Santa Claus. Although the tradition of wearing a red suit and cap began in the 1870s, thanks to cartoonist Thomas Nast, it would be Sundblom who would change the face of Santa Claus forever.
