Good morning, and welcome to the Saints Insider Newsletter for Tuesday, October 25. The Saints returned to their Airline Drive practice facility Monday after coach Dennis Allen gave the players the weekend off to spend time with their family. It's fair to say some things were turning over in Demario Davis' mind in his time away. The Saints veteran linebacker took the lectern Monday afternoon, and after fielding a question about the team's missed tackles in recent losses, launched into a nearly five-minute answer detailing the areas he believes the team has fallen short this year. One of the main things Davis wants to see: For the Saints defense to get its swagger back. Saints fans probably agree with that assessment. Coming into this week's game against the Las Vegas Raiders, the Saints will have the NFL's second-worst scoring defense, and only a couple teams have been worse at forcing game-changing turnovers than the Saints. Anybody who's watched the Saints this year should truly understand how important that turnover number is. Maybe the only number more important than turnovers (maybe) is the number of important Saints players who've been sidelined by injuries this season. Coach Dennis Allen said getting those players healthy was his No. 1 priority for the team's long weekend, but he didn't have much of an update Monday. "I don't think I received all the, 'Hey, everybody's going to be back,' news that I was hoping for," Allen said. "But I do think some progress is being made. We still have a couple days here before we get to the beginning of the practice week. I'm still optimistic there will be a few of the guys we haven't had that have an opportunity to be back." That's all we've got today. Thanks as always for your support, and keep it locked in at nola.com for the latest Saints news. Cheers, Luke Johnson |
