Denise Sagan is a mixed media artist working in Fayetteville Arkansas. Her love for making art includes several mediums and styles from realism in graphite, colored pencil and oil to abstraction in watercolor and encaustic.
Born and raised in central Wisconsin, Denise went on to study art at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design before finishing her art degree at the University of Arkansas. Her early art career included 19 years as an illustrator and designer for Dayspring Cards as well as creating several commissioned portraits in colored pencil, earning signature status with the Colored Pencil Society of America, and winning several awards.
After discovering the medium of encaustic in 2012, Denise explored the world of abstraction for a time but returned to her love of detail and the human face and figure. Her experimentation with encaustic on unusual surfaces led to the writing of an article on her work in the 2020 Spring Issue of the Encaustic Arts Magazine. |
