Happy New Year and may 2020 bring you many great new wines. We strive to keep your glasses full and your calendars entertaining this year. Winery - Winemaking team doesn’t get to hibernate, they are very busy in January getting the new young wines ready to bottle. The bright, fresh style wines like Sauvignon Blanc and Rose need to be bottled soon so our team is blending the final versions, ordering supplies and planning the years’ worth of wine. Working closely with the tasting room team to determine quantities for 2020 and being ready to bottle by February is a tight turn around. Wait until you see what new wines are in store! Vineyard - This time of year, the vines are dormant. For the next few months the average temperature will hover right around freezing and the vines will sleep right through while they rest and restore for the coming season. This freezing temperature will also kill many vineyard disease carrying pests such as mites or moths and keep the vineyard surprisingly pest free.
Visit us at Desert Wind during these short, cold days and enjoy our crackling fireplaces, welcoming staff and daily food service. Sincerely, Lisa Jenkins Owner
