dear designboom reader, this week, nairobi-based entrepreneur and inventor nzambi matee and her startup, gjenge makers, drew our readers' attention. the company recycles plastic waste into bricks that are stronger than concrete whilst creating job opportunities for women and youth groups in kenya and africa at large. another project that recycles waste into construction material is stilt studios' 'tetra pod', a prefabricated tiny house in bali whose walls and roof are built using recycled tetra pack cartons. last, also in indonesia, the 'piyandeling' workshop and residence by RAW architecture combines recycled plastic with bamboo and local stone in its construction. thanks for reading! sofia lekka angelopoulou | senior editor |
