football takes center stage in some recent stadium designs. from the outside, viewers can already see their striking features, such as the series of open-air ramps around sordo madaleno's FIFA 2030 stadium in gijón, spain. there can be a sculptural touch in their architecture too, as seen in the grand tented rooftop over the grand stade hassan II sporting venue in morocco.

other stadium designs look more at rustic elements or a sheltered look. the former can draw upon elevated architecture like the arched structural canopy outlining the indoor sports field at shaoxing university in china. with the latter, airflow, shade, and more sunlight underline the design, an ethos bjarke ingels group takes in for the las vegas ballpark and its shell structure.
