Dear designboom reader, In our recent design interviews, new materials take center stage. We visit NIKE’s headquarters in Oregon to see the calibrated gear that Faith Kipyegon is set to use as she attempts to become the first woman to run a sub-four-minute mile. Even Gustaf Westman walks us through his conceptual art piece: a pink Mercedes-Benz CLA with a set of camping gear and a stowable picnic table. In Milan, Ronan Bouroullec and Vincent Van Duysen experiment with the use of glass: the French designer produces translucent cast glass and enameled ceramics, while the Belgian architect crafts hand-blown tables and panels made from perforated fused glass. In the same city, Outpump also transforms Spazio Verso into a social club, adorned with porcelain ping-pong tables by LAVA. Thanks for reading! Matthew Burgos | Editor |
