designboom spoke with renowned british architect and founder of 60s avant-garde group archigram, sir peter cook, on the occasion of his upcoming exhibition at richard saltoun gallery. JAPAN'S FIRST DAYTIME FIREWORKS BY CAI GUO-QIANG & SAINT LAURENT

contemporary artist cai guo-qiang and saint laurent's anthony vaccarello ignite japan's first daytime fireworks along the iwaki coastline in fukushima. captured in a mesmerizing video, 'when the sky blooms with sakura' features 40,000 daytime fireworks as a tribute to those lost in tragedies like the great east japan earthquake and the coronavirus pandemic, conveying a message of hope and resilience in the face of adversity.

RESIN-WRAPPED OBJECTS SHED LIGHT ON SOCIAL DISCRIMINATION

furniture artist seungtae jang wraps and covers abandoned objects in layers of epoxy resin to shed light on issues such as waste management, social discrimination and labor exploitation. discarded chairs, shoes, and even a toilet transform into symbolic pieces of furniture, each telling the story of a marginalized group.
