His paintings are being enjoyed in many private collections within Nepal and abroad. Gurung himself lives simply and works diligently.
" Gurung may not be a 'veteran', but the sheer volume, quality, and the nuance of visual thoughtfulness in his work belie his fresh entry. Efficient brushwork puts a no-nonsense sensibility in his work, but he defies the norms of conventional art and gives you a dose of visual drama. Every square inch speaks volumes about his enthusiasm." Nepali Times - January 2015
"Nepal was hit hard by an earthquake in April 2015, and an artist named Gurung Dhwoj has been at the center of the relief efforts. Along the way, he has scratched out some time to paint and sketch. Recently, his drawings have more urgency to them, as he realized that many wood carvings on buildings-a key element in the local culture-were not being restored or preserved amidst the great changes." Outdoor Painter Magazine- January 2016
"Balancing his freestyle approach and academic painting with his thoughtful compositions, Gurung creates visual drama that sings with the harmony of its colour and form. And, to add to it the earnest quality in the execution of his work adds a personal narrative to his images." Kathmandu Post - January 2015
"Artists participating in the Plein air Painters group on Facebook have been enjoying the updates coming in from outdoor painters from all over the word, from Holland to the Himalayas. One recently stood out - a participant from the place with the tallest mountains on earth reports that painting in Nepal and neighboring countries is downright magical."
