Good morning, Welcome to your daily newsletter from The Scotsman? How are the Scottish Government performing 100 days into the term of this Parliament? That's the question we want to answer this morning. With the first 100 days of the SNP being returned to power having passed by the end of today, according to the Scottish Government’s own dates, The Scotsman examines whether all of the party’s pledges have been delivered. The SNP’s election manifesto contained a number of promises to make more things “free”, at the point of use, rather than to the taxpayer. Now the government has announced that 600,000 people aged under 26 are to get free dental care, in what is billed as a first step towards the ambition to abolish NHS dental charges entirely. The question now is whether the Scottish government will deliver on its promise or whether free dentistry will be plagued by similar problems as the pledge to increase the provision of free childcare. From Covid-19, environmental issues, jobs, housing and more, Conor Matchett assesses if Nicola Sturgeon's administration is keeping the promises made to the electorate. | |
