Hello everyone!

Welcome back to the DPReview newsletter. Due to a few upgrades we’ve done on our end, we’ve been out of commission for a few weeks, but we’re back in a new year better than ever with plenty of news to catch you up on. 

Below is a breakdown of the biggest news stories from the past week or so. Take a look and be sure to keep an eye on our homepage for the latest updates through this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and beyond. We have a lot of exciting content headed your way.

Panasonic announces the S5II and S5IIX

Panasonic kicked off the new year by announcing two new 24MP full-frame cameras, the S5II and S5IIX. These are the first mirrorless cameras from Panasonic that offer phase-detection autofocus, marking a pivot after more than a decade of using its Depth-from-Defocus technology, which relied on contrast-detection autofocus. Nikon announces development of 85mm F1.2 S and 26mm F2.8 Z-mount lens

Both the 85mm F1.2 S and 26mm F2.8 prime lenses are designed for Nikon’s full-frame Z-mount camera systems. Aside from the focal length and maximum aperture, Nikon didn’t share much about either of the lenses in its announcement, including any information on how much either of these lenses will be released or listed for
