Hello readers!

After a few slower weeks, this week proved to be busy. NASA kicked it off by sharing the first test image from the James Webb Space Telescope and followed that up by publishing the first full images, showcasing incredible scenes from more than 4.6 billion lightyears away.

Here on Earth, Canon launched two new RF lenses while Japanese finance publication Nikkei reported Nikon is shutting down DSLR production, leading Nikon to publish a follow-up claim that it will continue to make, sell and support its existing DSLR cameras.

Check out all of these feature stories and more:

Nikkei made waves earlier this week by stating in a report that Nikon was going to stop making DSLRs. While not necessarily surprising news in and of itself, Nikon caught wind of the report and issued a statement saying ‘has made no announcement in this regards.’ So, who’s right? DPReview’s Richard Butler also wrote up an editorial explaining the writing on the mirror for mirrored cameras and how the only real question to this whole Nikon saga is ‘how far behind is Canon?’

Going hands-on with Canon’s 32.5MP EOS R7 RF APS-C camera

NASA reveals the first images from the James Webb Space Telescope

After teasing the first test image at the end of last week, NASA and its partners unveiled the first full-resolution image from its $10B James Webb Space Telescope, ‘Webb’s Dark Field.’ The next day, they followed it up with four more images that highlight the incredible scenes the telescope is capable of capturing.
