Other California real estate markets like the Bay Area and Orange County may be in a slump but L.A.'s luxury segment has been on a tear with notable purchases by the likes of Jeff Bezos and Lachlan Murdoch fueling the fire. However, no luxury estate has been able to quite live up to billionaire Saudi shopping mall magnate Fawaz Alhokair's $94 million purchase of "Billionaire" and we have all the juicy details on it. Meanwhile, Hollywood multihyphenate and "The Office" star Mindy Kaling has scooped up Frank Sinatra's charming old Malibu haunt at the reduced price of $9.55 million. Who buys exactly what they want? Fawaz Alhokair Bought Bel Air’s $94 Million Billionaire Estate

Alhokair's new home initially debuted on the market two years ago with an eye-watering price tag of $250 million. Known as "Billionaire" the decidedly blocky mansion contains a number of truly over-the-top amenities like a giant candy wall, two outdoor infinity pools, putting greens, an indoor wellness suite, a $2 million outdoor retractable theater screen, two wine cellars and fire extinguishers filled with Dom Pérignon.
